The Advertising Association, IPA and ISBA will present a joint event on January 25, 2023

The Advertising Association, IPA and ISBA will hold their annual industry summit on 25 January 2023 at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in central London. LEAD 2023 will build on the legacy of the AA’s flagship event, which has been running since 2012, and the success of the Tripartite Events, RESET 2021 and RENEW 2022, held during the pandemic shutdowns.

LEAD 2023 will address how the advertising industry, working together with brands, agencies, media and technology companies, can best help the UK recover economically and socially from the pandemic, work on alongside the new government and address the many challenges facing the industry as a whole. The half-day summit will be held in person and online with a packed schedule, bringing together leaders from the political, business and advertising spheres. A stellar list of speakers will be led by the three presidents of the organizing associations – Alessandra Bellini of the Advertising Association, Julian Douglas of the IPA and Margaret Jobling of the ISBA.

The summit will review regulatory pressures on the industry and address key themes as the associations consider how the industry can adapt to emerging challenges for the second quarter of 21st century, including:

  • How to Build an Ad Workforce to Meet the Changing Demands of the 21stst century
  • How to make advertising even more effective and efficient
  • How creativity can be a growth accelerator

Phil Smith, Managing Director, ISBA, said“As we enter an uncertain era for the economy and our industry, it is vital that we work together as much as possible to tackle the major challenges we face. That’s why we’re delighted to once again partner with the Advertising Association and the IPA to draw attention to the big issues and the industry’s response to LEAD.

Paul Bainsfair, Chief Executive of the IPA, said“As we begin to focus on the months and years ahead, being an integral part of shaping the LEAD agenda is an important signal to IPA members and their clients that after the Brexit and post Covid we are still working together as industry ensuring a fruitful and open dialogue with government and business leaders on the health of UK plc We look forward to more dialogue on key issues for 2023 and to work with a new Prime Minister and his new team.

Stephen Woodford, CEO, Advertising Association, said: “After a two-year absence, we are very pleased to announce plans for LEAD in January in partnership with our other professional associations, the IPA and ISBA. Two of the biggest workflows in our industry have emerged during the pandemic through cross-industry collaboration – All In and Ad Net Zero Looking ahead, as we deal with the economic repercussions of the pandemic, inflation and war in Ukraine and face the challenges of talent retention and recruitment, it is essential that our industry maintains its positive momentum and builds back better, together.

LEAD – first created in 2012 – has seen industry and media figures take the stage, including Dame Carolyn McCall, Evan Davis, Syl Saller, Steve Richards and Nicola Mendelsohn, as well as numerous ministers, including the DCMS Secretaries of State. The 2023 event will showcase industry collaboration to ensure future success.

A full program for the half-day summit will be released in the coming weeks.
