KidGlov, a full-service boutique, advertising, branding and content marketing agency based in Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., recently hosted Eddy Badrina, CEO of Eden Green Technology, on his podcast, Agency for Change. The episode explored how Eden Green, a vertical greenhouse company, uses technology to bring the farm closer to the table.
“Access to food, food insecurity and climate change are big challenges and Eden Green Technology offers incredible solutions,” said Lyn Wineman, President and Chief Strategist at KidGlov. “It was great to sit down with Eddy Badrina on the podcast to learn more about the innovative ways his team is helping to make agriculture more productive and sustainable.”
Eden Green Technology’s mission is to change the way they grow produce to feed people with local solutions. Their sustainable and scalable vertical greenhouse technology can be deployed anywhere in the world and produces healthy and safe fruits and vegetables with environmental sustainability in mind.
Lettuce is an $8 billion industry in the United States. Eden Green seeks to make this industry more sustainable, more accessible and more profitable. From their 1.5 acre greenhouses, they harvest two million pounds of leafy greens each year using just 90,000 gallons of water. A traditional 40-50 acre farm produces the same number of vegetables but uses 900,000 gallons of water and sees up to 30% waste due to quality specifications, disease and other reasons.
“We combine the economy of a greenhouse with the density of a vertical farm,” Badrina said. “Our patented technology creates a controlled environment and an optimal balance of nutrients for plants. The result is lower resource costs and a more affordable product.
