IAB-supported ad industry debating club to return in December

The Advertising Industry Debate Club will return on December 2 after a successful inaugural event earlier this year. The club will be held every two months with the support of IAB Australia.

Following its successful inaugural event earlier in 2021, the ad industry debating club will return at 6 p.m. on December 2 to celebrate, support and nurture new industry voices. The event will see teams debate whether a future metaverse can unlock more meaningful human connections.

The club was started by Yahoo’s Orsi Toth-Pal as part of her development under the IAB Australia Mentorship Program, working with her mentor Ilda Jamison of Quantcast.

IAB Australia has stepped up enthusiastically to support the Debate Club, which will be held every two months as a fun social event for those who want to improve their persuasive skills, learn more about what’s happening in the industry and connect with people outside of their usual work assignment.

The December debate will take place at the Sanctuary Hotel in Sydney CBD and attendance is free, although tickets must be reserved. Entrants will have the chance to win one of 10 NFTs from event sponsor Scoutt, a sports talent boost where fans can purchase NFTs of athletes who help boost their careers in exchange for rewards , exclusive content and engagement.

Toth-Pal said, “I’m generally comfortable with challenges, but Debate Club definitely pushes me out of my comfort zone. I talk to people and deal with processes that I normally wouldn’t do for several years in a normal career progression scenario. After a successful pilot event earlier this year, it is so exciting to gain the support of the IAB and bring something new and different to our industry.
