KidGlov, a marketing and advertising agency based in Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., recently hosted Becky Perrett, Chief Marketing Officer of Runza, on her podcast, Agency for Change. The episode explored 73 years of iconic Midwestern restaurants that nurtured and sustained the community.
“Runza is a Nebraska icon and for decades this restaurant has taken an active role in supporting the greater community,” said Kelley Peterson, KidGlov Vice President and Chief Creative Officer. “It was a pleasure to sit down with Becky Perret to learn more about the impact community partnerships and goal-oriented marketing campaigns have had on Runza over the years.”
The first Runza restaurant opened in Lincoln, Neb. in 1949 and offers the classic Runza(R) sandwich. The restaurant franchise now operates throughout Nebraska and surrounding states, serving house specialties such as the classic Runza(R) sandwich, hand-pressed burgers, crinkle fries and onion rings.
As Runza’s Chief Marketing Officer, Perrett has been instrumental in sharing the Runza message, connecting with customers and building community partnerships. “We are daily aware of the love of our customers. And we take that very seriously, not just in our food and customer service, but in our mindset in terms of giving back and community engagement and support. It’s really, really important to us,” Perrett said.
During the podcast, Perrett explains how the restaurant’s marketing has evolved over the decades, breaks down some of their most iconic campaigns, and discusses the importance of community partnerships, including relationships with Husker Athletics, the Alzheimer’s Association and their program, Runza Feeds the Need.
